SBC 2017 Review

Smart Building Conference examines Impact of IoT on smart building, smart office and smart home.

The Smart Building Conference closed its 6th annual event with an impressive line-up of industry speakers, sponsorships by key industry players and an increase of almost 100% in delegates. More than 400 attendees joined speakers such as Google’s CTO of Networks, IBM Watson IoT’s Worldwide Solution Leader, and Amazon’s Director of Alexa Smart Home to learn about the new opportunities within smart building, smart office and smart home.

“Our line-up of speakers addressing this year’s theme, IoT Makes Smart Buildings Even Smarter, showed how IoT is a digital disruption upon a disruption,” says Bob Snyder, Conference Chairman.

“Smart building and smart home are broad topics and each year we change the theme to cover new ground. This year delegates in both commercial and residential tracks heard about current Internet of Things (IoT) developments and applications. Smart building reflects a digital disruption of our traditional built environment and now – before we are even able to digest that impact fully – we will have to come to grips with the new challenges of IoT.

The increase in delegates exceeded even the impressive growth rate of ISE 2017,” notes Snyder. “That big bump in proves that our message that we all need to consider the digitalisation of the environment that houses our technological solutions, is reaching the industry professionals who recognise the need to adapt to industry trends.

The increase in delegates also means more chances for new business for the delegates as it exponentially increases the amount of networking opportunities one has. The community side of an event grows when you reach this new size of event and next year we will be addressing this.”

Event sponsors included IBM Watson, KNX, Spinetix, and Siemon.

Held each year in Amsterdam on the day before the opening of the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the Smart Building Conference is the spearhead for companies and professionals on the cutting edge of technology and applications in the built-environment.

The conference presents the perfect opening for the fast-growing ISE 2017 with nearly 1200 exhibitors and more than 73,400 attendees.

Next year the Smart Building Conference takes place on February 5th, 2018. Interested sponsors and delegates can see more about 2017 on our website.
